Spooky Maine Coons Contract
**Deposits are non-refundable, except in the event of kitten health problems before the date of full payment.
_____**BUYER ACCEPTS THE KITTEN AND CONFIRMS THAT HE/SHE IS HEALTHY AT TIME OF PICKUP/DELIVERY
__*Breeder guarantees the health of the above mentioned kitten/cat for 3 days from the date of delivery. Breeder advises buyer to have this kitten/cat examined within the 3 day time frame by a licensed veterinarian. Failure to do so will result in this health agreement being null and void. If your vet finds a life threatening disease or congenital defect, and you wish to return the kitten/cat, you will need to return the registration papers, vaccination history, x-rays and a written statement for the vet stating the diagnosis. Claims must be made within the 3 day period as stated above, and are subject to our veterinarian’s inspection.
__*Breeder is not responsible for any veterinary costs incurred once buyer takes possession of the above named kitten/cat, unless this kitten/cat is found to be ill within the 3 day time frame (a life threatening disease or congenital defect). Breeder will not pay for any procedures or tests performed on the above named kitten/cat.
__**DO NOT ALLOW YOUR VET TO GIVE MULTIPLE VACCINES ON THE SAME DAY. Your kitten can not handle multiple vaccines, rabies shot, relocation, etc… on their immune systems. You must insist that they space these vaccines out so your kitten has time to process and build up an immune system to each vaccine separately. We will not be responsible for any sickness/illness/death that may arise due to your vet over-vaccinating your kitten, no exceptions.
__*Relocation - Riding in a car can be traumatic for kittens. Your kitten must be confined to a carrier during the ride home as well as during subsequent trips to the veterinarian. Do not let your new kitten loose in a moving car or allow children to excite him. Do not leave the kitten unattended in the car or stop to visit friends, shop, etc. Keep your kitten in his carrier until you are safely inside your home. Showing your kitten off to family and friends must be done AFTER he is settled in your new home. Breeder is NOT responsible for any injuries incurred after the buyer takes possession
__*Stress – your kitten may become stressed during the relocation. Stress can appear in many different ways – diarrhea, watery/pus in the eyes, upper respiratory infections can appear quickly due to their weaker immune systems (sneezing, etc). The breeder is not responsible for any treatments due to relocation stressors.
__*If the kitten/cat is not quarantined separately from other animals on buyer’s premises for 10 days, breeder assumes no liability for any illness, internal/external parasites, fungus or contagious diseases.
__*Introduction to your Home - Consider your kitten’s past experiences or lack thereof. Your kitten will have recently been separated from his mother and litter mates. Now he must adjust again to totally new surroundings, sights and smells. Allow your kitten several weeks to adapt. During this period, the kitten should be carefully confined indoors. He needs to get used to you as the provider of love, shelter and food. Be sure that all windows and doors are kept closed and that all screens are secure. It's not uncommon for kittens to display behavior problems during the first days in a new home, but these usually disappear over time. New kittens often bolt under furniture. Some may spend hours or even days hiding. Sit and talk quietly to the kitten. If you must take the kitten out of his hiding place, carry him gently to a quiet protected area where he will feel secure. Be sure food, water and litter box are nearby (do not put the litter box in the basement and expect the kitten to find it).
__*The first day - Introduce your kitten to his new home gradually, restricting him to one room at first. Isolate other animals from your new kitten during this time. Supervise children, advising them to always be gentle with the kitten. Have the litter box ready when you remove the kitten from the carrier. Show him the location of the litter box. Offer a bowl of water and food but do not be alarmed if they don’t eat. Your kitten may be bewildered, fearful or curious. Do not overwhelm him with attention or demands. Remember to keep doors and windows closed, and be sure the cat has an I.D. tag on at all times. It is not unusual for cats to leap on top of very high furniture in order to explore or to feel secure. Do not panic, shout, or run to the kitten. When he is ready, he will come down alone. Try to spend several hours with your new kitten as he becomes accustomed to your home. Your sensitive handling of the initial transition can ease the trauma and set the stage for a happy settling-in.
__*Introduction to other animals after the quarantine period - The ability of animals to get along together in the same household depends on their individual personalities. There will always be one who dominates. A new kitten will often upset the existing pecking order or the old cat or dog may feel it necessary to establish dominance immediately. Wise handling of the "getting acquainted" period is an important factor in the successful introduction of a new kitten. The first week or two may be hectic, frustrating and time consuming. Be patient. The adjustment will take time. Do not be alarmed if they hiss or spit at each other – this is normal!
__*If this kitten/cat is found to be neglected, or is in ill health, the buyer will surrender the kitten/cat to this breeder unconditionally.
__*This Cat/Kitten will not be let free to roam outdoors and will be kept as indoor pet only. If you post kittens of our kitten on Facebook outside – that means you left them to roam outdoors and will surrender the animal back to the breeder as failure to abide by the contract. One year warranty is also voided.
__*This Cat/Kitten will not be de-clawed without permission of the Breeder.
__*Cat/Kitten has a one year replacement guarantee against hereditary or congenital defects that affect the life of the Cat. A Complete Veterinary History must be furnished and supporting documentation verifying the condition. This guarantee is only valid if full documentation with confirmed hereditary or congenital with confirmed diagnosis by a Licensed Veterinarian is provided.
__*If Cat/Kitten passes away during the first year, a full necropsy report MUST be provided in order for guarantee to be valid.
__*Purchaser has the option of returning the Cat/Kitten if hereditary/congenital diseases have been found in the cat/kitten and proper documentation is provided, you will be eligible for a 75% of purchase price refund or a replacement kitten. Breeder will not reimburse any amount in excess of that amount under any circumstance.
__*If this kitten/cat is shipped, breeder has done so in good faith with a current Health certificate from a licensed veterinarian. Should this kitten/cat be returned for any reason, all shipping costs will be paid by the buyer.
__*Kittens will receive their initial booster around 10 weeks of age and several rounds of de-wormer prior to them leaving the breeder. Additional vaccines/boosters may be required due to the date of pickup, as well as, additional rounds of de-wormer.
__*Breeder is not responsible for the additional boosters, rabies shot, de-wormer and or other medications your vet may deem necessary after pickup. Every attempt has been made to insure your kitten has the proper vaccine, de-wormer, flea treatment, parasite remover, etc…. prior to their departure. The breeder will not be responsible for any non-life threatening expenses after the kitten has left.
__*No Cat /kitten from Spooky Maine Coons may be sold or given to an animal shelter/rescue organization, pet store, kitten mill, research lab, or abandoned. In addition, purchaser agrees not to resell, transfer or give away cat/kitten without giving the Breeder first option to place Cat/Kitten in a new home. Purchaser must, prior to return, get a FELV/FIV test at Veterinarian before returning Cat/Kitten to Spooky Maine Coons to assure protection from those diseases from infecting Breeders FELV/FIV Negative Cattery.
